Tidy Towns Social

The annual fundraising social organised by Corofin Tidy Towns Committee will be held at Teach Ui Dalaigh on this Saturday night November 23rd. The local group have been putting in a sterling effort to improve the appearance of the village and surrounding areas in recent years and have been rewarded with a twelve point improvement in the national Tidy Towns competition over the past two years. Music for the event is being provided by Robbie and Bernie for Saturday night’s social and there will also be a raffle on the night with many valuable prizes on offer.

Minor Club AGM

The Annual General Meeting of Corofin Minor GAA Club takes place at the Pairc finne Clubhouse on this Saturday, November 23rd, commencing at 8.00pm. It is essential that as many members, parents and mentors as possible attend this important club meeting.

Christmas Lights

Volunteers were out in force earlier this week erecting the festive lights in the village. The lights have become an important feature in Corofin over the festive season and add to the magic of the occasion. It is expected that the official lighting up ceremony will take place at the end of November.

Felting Classes

Felting classes will commence at the Kilnaboy X-PO on this Thursday night November 21st and will continue over the coming weeks. Participants are requested to bring a towel, apron, waterproof shoes and a bar of soap. The class will learn how to make felt slippers in time for Christmas. Meanwhile the planned AGM of the X-PO has been rescheduled for Friday November 29th commencing at 8.00pm.

Tourism Table Quiz

The Corofin Tourism Association will hold a Table Quiz at Bofey Quinns on Friday night next November 29th commencing at 9.30pm. The organisers would welcome donations of prizes both for the quiz and the associated raffle. The group which was only set up at the beginning of 2012 has made great progress including producing new promotional literature for the area, revamping the Corofin website, campaigning for improved road signage for the area, resurrecting the Festival of Finn and re-establishing a farmer’s market in the village. Meanwhile a paper reviewing community and tourism development in Corofin over the past forty years presented to last week’s meeting of the tourism group by Gerard Kennedy can now be viewed on the promotional website www.visitcorofin.com

Grand Finale

The Golfer of the Year competition for the Corofin Golf Society for 2013 will be decided when the final singles event of the year takes place at the Ennis Golf Club on Saturday week. The November outing of the local club takes place at the Ennis venue on Saturday November 30th with the tee reserved from 11.15am.
