Community Alert Meeting

Locals are reminded that a meeting will be held at the Teach Ceoil tonight, Thursday November 7th commencing at 9.00pm with the aim of establishing a Community Alert initiative in the parish. It is important that all areas are represented at this meeting and the organisers are appealing to anyone interested to come along.

Youth Club Officers

Kilnaboy Youth Club held its Annual General Meeting recently and the following adult officers were elected. Chairman: Sean Roche, Vice Chair: Stevie Malone, Secretary: Laura Keane, Treasurer; Carmel Tierney and PRO; John Kelly. The Kilnaboy club recently hosted a Youth Disco for clubs from all parts of the county and no fewer than fourteen youth clubs participated.

Trad Concert

The second in a series of traditional music concerts scheduled for the Teach Ceoil in Corofin takes place on Saturday week November 16th. This concert features well known musicians Martin Hayes and Denis Cahill and anyone interested in attending should reserve a place without delay.

Liam’s Visit

Members of the Clare panel brought the Liam McCarthy Cup to Corofin recently where a huge crowd turned out at the GAA Sports Hall to see the All Ireland senior hurling trophy. Supporters, young and old availed of the opportunity to have their photograph taken with the coveted cup.

Talk On Tourism

The next meeting of the Corofin Tourism Association will be held at the Chairperson’s house at Riverston on Wednesday night next November 13th commencing at 8.00pm. Gerard Kennedy will present an overview of tourism development in Corofin over the past fifty years and there will be a discussion on this should influence future development. A meeting of the Festival of Finn committee will be held prior to the tourism meeting at 7.30pm. All members are asked to arrive on time.

School Quiz

The Parent’s Association of Scoil Muire in Corofin will hold a Table Quiz at Crowley’s Bar in the village on Friday night next November 15th commencing at 9.30pm. The usual format with teams of four will apply and there will also be a raffle with lots of prizes on the night. The school is hoping for a big turn-out for this fundraising event.

Marathon Runners

Several athletes from the parish competed in the Dublin City Marathon last week. A number represented the Kilnaboy Athletic Club while others ran for a variety of charitable causes. All of the local athletes succeeded in completing the course.

Wedding Bells

The wedding took place recently at Kilmaley Chruch of Mr. Seamus Howard son of James and Bridget of Gortalicka, Kilnaboy to Ms. Nicola Bracken daughter of Catherine and the late Kevin Bracken of Kilmaley. The wedding reception was held at the Inn at Dromoland.

Ceili Mór

A Ceili Mór will be held at the Holy Family Hall in Ennis on this Friday night November 8th commencing at 8.00pm. All proceeds will go towards the Sr. Ethel Normoyle’s fund for development work in Africa. All support will be appreciated.
