X-PO Table Quiz

A table quiz in aid of Kilnaboy X-PO will be held at Crowley’s Bar, Corofin on this Friday night October 25th commencing at 9.30pm. The X-PO is widely used as a meeting place and arts centre in Kilnaboy and like many voluntary activities needs funding to run many of its activities. The general knowledge quiz is open to teams of four and everyone is invited to take part.

GAA Meeting

A meeting of the Corofin GAA Senior Club is scheduled to take place on this Friday night October 25th at the clubhouse commencing at 8.30pm. All members and team mentors are requested to attend.

Paint Appeal

Corofin Tidy Towns Committee has once again appealed to the local community for donations of any unused exterior masonry paint. The local group will make use of the paint to brighten up walls and buildings which are in a dilapidated state around the village. Anyone who has paint they would like to give to the local group should contact Joe O’Connell 086-6049626 or Brendan Kearney on 087-6674027.

School Social

A fundraising social in aid of Kilnaboy National School will be held at Teach Ui Dalaigh, Corofin on this Sunday October 27th. The support of the community will be greatly appreciated and a great nigh of music and dancing is expected with lots of spot prizes on the night.

Community Alert

The initial meeting to get a new community alert scheme up and running in the area was held at the Teach Ceoil on Thursday night last. Some progress was made with the initiative but a second meeting is planned for Thursday November 7th when it is hoped that all areas of the parish will be represented.

Soccer News

Corofin Harps entertained Newmarket Celtic A in the Clare Soccer League Premier Division at Corofin on Sunday morning. The visitors went ahead in the first half when they scored on the break. Harps threw everything at Celtic in the second period but couldn’t find the score to level the game. They conceded a penalty late in the game which Newmarket converted to wrap up the points on a 2 – 0 scoreline. Harps B team travelled to Sixmilebridge on Sunday evening and suffered a 3 – 0 defeat to Bridge United B.

Youth Club AGM

The Annual General Meeting of Kilnaboy Youth Club is scheduled for Kilnaboy School Hall on Tuesday night next October 29th commencing at 8.00pm.

Athletics

James Raleigh of Kilnaboy AC was in great form at the Gort 10k last week and came home in third place. James had led the race early on but was delighted to finish in third place in a personal best time of 38.33. At the St. Mary’s 5k road race last week Rita Kierce put in another great display and was the winner in her category in a time of 21.46.
